The Smith Meter Magnetic Torque Coupler (MTC) replaces the packing gland on existing or new Smith Meter double-case positive displacement meters. Two permanent-magnet assemblies rotate 1:1 on a common axis, separated by a pressure barrier with static O-ring seals, so torque passes from the meter rotor to the external registration devices with no rotating contact and no dynamic seal. This eliminates packing-gland leaks, VOC emissions and maintenance while maintaining custody-transfer accuracy, and lower rotational drag helps smaller meters at low flow rates. Retrofit kits include the MTC with adapter, spacer, O-rings and fasteners.
