The Smith Meter VDR Vertical Deaerator separates and releases air and gas from petroleum and other liquids before they are metered. Tangential inlet and outlet connections force the liquid into a rotational movement; the centrifugal action, together with lower velocity and pressure, separates entrained air and gas, which is vented through float-operated automatic air release valve(s). A sight glass shows the liquid. The standard unit is designed to release up to 30% air/gas by volume; factory-installed liquid level controls (HE options) working with a Smith Meter 200 Series hydraulic control valve or an AccuLoad raise efficiency further. Built at the Smith Meter GmbH (Ellerbek, Germany) operation to DIN/EN, AD2000.

How to read the model code
Example: VDR-060-2-04A-A-T0-A-H0-L. Read the code left to right; each position selects one option:
- VDR (Type of equipment): Vertical Deaerator
- 060 (VDR model): 005, 010, 020, 025, 030, 040, 060, 070, 100, 130, 180, 240 or 350
- 2 (Working pressure): 1 = PN 10 / 150 psi; 2 = PN 16 / 232 psi; 3 = PN 25 / 362 psi
- 04A (Flange size): 02A-16A = 2" to 16" ANSI (02A, 25A, 03A, 04A, 06A, 08A, 10A, 12A, 14A, 16A); 02D-16D = DN 50 to DN 400 DIN
- A (Design standards): See Smith bulletin AB0A003E
- T0 (Elastomer seals): See Smith bulletin AB0A003E
- A (Flange arrangement / flow direction): A, B, C = right-hand spin; D, E, F = left-hand spin
- H0 (Liquid level controls (L.L.C.)): H0 = not required; H1 = 1 for high or low level; H2 = 2 for high and low; H3 = 3 for comprehensive control; P3 = 3 connections for level control
- L (Liquid level control function): 0 = not required; L = low level control; H = high level control
How to specify / order
Give the full model code above, or send:
- Product, viscosity and maximum flow rate (to pick the VDR model from the selection guide)
- Working pressure class and flange standard/size (ANSI or DIN)
- Flange arrangement and spin direction (A-F) to suit the piping layout
- Whether liquid level controls are wanted (HE 1 / HE 2 / HE 3) and what they will drive (200 Series valve, 296 set-stop valve or AccuLoad)
- Design standard and elastomer codes per bulletin AB0A003E (not reproduced in SS01058E)
Bulletin notes: the minimum back pressure for EC weights and measures is printed as "0,05 kPa", which looks too low (please confirm the value with the factory); the drain is given as 1-1/2" NPT for "Model 10 to 60" in the specifications but "Model 5 to 50" on the dimension drawing; the leg count is stated for models 10-100 and 130-350 and does not mention the VDR-5. Design-standard and elastomer codes are only referenced to AB0A003E. The German edition (SS01058EGE) covers the same product.
Pricing and lead time are quoted per configuration. Send the model code (or the details above) with your product and operating conditions to Flow Measurement Services for a quote. Specifications summarized from Smith Meter bulletin SS01058E Rev 0.6 (6/20); confirm current data with the factory before ordering.
