The Smith Meter Ultra 8c is an eight-path liquid ultrasonic flowmeter for custody transfer of refined products, LPG and light to heavy crude oils. Crossing measurement paths cancel swirl, so it installs with only 5D of upstream straight run and no flow conditioner, and dynamic profile compensation keeps it linear from laminar to turbulent flow. Flush, non-intrusive transducers sit in removable wells for replacement under pressure, with an optional low-frequency transducer for the heaviest and dirtiest fluids.

How to read the model code
Example: 8-S-06-1-1-S-S-B-C-40 with UMC-E-A-P-N-S-0-B-0. Read the code left to right; each position selects one option:
- Position 1 (Code): 8 = Ultra 8c
- Position 2 (Certification): S = standard UL/cUL, ATEX, IECEx; B = INMETRO UL Brazil
- Positions 3-4 (Diameter): 06, 08, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 26, 30 inch (other sizes or custom ID, consult factory)
- Position 5 (End connections): 1-4 = Class 150/300/600/900 ASME flange; 5-8 = Class 150/300/600/900 RTJ
- Position 6 (Body material): 1 = carbon steel; 2 = 300 series stainless; X = special
- Position 7 (Transducer): S = standard titanium; X = special (non-Buna-N service)
- Position 8 (Transducer type): S = standard; L = low frequency (high viscosity); H = high frequency
- Position 9 (Mechanical certification): B = ASME B31.3; P = PED; C = CRN; X = special
- Position 10 (Ethernet): C = 2 twisted pair; F = 1 twisted pair + 1 optical
- Positions 11-12 (Inlet ID / meter run schedule): 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, ST (STD), XS, CD (custom ID)
- Electronics (UMC code): UMC-(E explosion-proof / B INMETRO)-(A aluminum / S stainless)-(P pedestal / H with height extension)-(M M20 / N 1/2" NPT)-S-0-(B blind / T 5.7" touchscreen)-(0 none / 1 HART)
- Remote display (optional): TCI-(E/B)-(A/S)-S-(M/N)-(S/X); see the Ultra Series Remote Touchscreen Display listing
