The Smith Meter Ultra 4 is a four-path transit-time liquid ultrasonic flowmeter with a signal processing unit, used for measurement of refined products and crude oil in pipeline, inventory, allocation, line-balancing and leak-detection service. It shares its electronics and transducer design with the Ultra 6 and MPU gas meters. The non-intrusive, flush-mounted titanium transducers leave a full open bore, with no moving parts and pressure drop equal to straight pipe. Sizes run up to 48 inches.
