The Smith Meter Model 296-40A Valve is used with Smith Meter preset counters for preset loading at loading racks, bulk plants and processing installations. It is a 200 Series valve with two solenoids (N.O. 30B and N.C. 30A), a position stem switch, a sensitivity needle valve and a 40A flow limiting pilot that senses differential pressure across an integral orifice plate. It is typically controlled by the microswitch assembly of a mechanical set-stop counter in the accessory stack of a PD meter: the valve opens toward full open, limits maximum flow rate through the 40A pilot, drops to a hydraulically locked low-flow mode at the first-stage trip and closes at the final trip.

The bulletin has no position-by-position model code. To quote, send:
Valve size (2"-6") and flange class (Class 150 or 300)
Required maximum operating pressure (115, 150 or full flange rating), which sets the solenoid choice
Product, viscosity and maximum flow rate setting (for orifice plate sizing)
Elastomers and solenoid voltage
