The FUEL-FACS+ DET is a driver entry terminal fully integrated with the FUEL-FACS+ Facility Business System (FBS) terminal automation system. Based on the AccuLoad platform, it has an 8.4-inch touchscreen in a rugged, weatherproof enclosure and can be installed wherever drivers and terminal personnel interact with FUEL-FACS+. It communicates with FUEL-FACS+ and a card reader at the same time and supports both serial and Ethernet communications.

Key specifications

  • Display / HMI: 8.4 in TFT active-matrix, 800 x 600, 16.77M colors, white LED backlight, resistive touchscreen
  • Power: 100-240 VAC universal input, 58 W maximum, 48-63 Hz, fuse-protected; surge current 28 A max for less than 0.1 s; a constant-voltage transformer is recommended where AC power quality is in doubt
  • Communications: Four serial ports - (1) EIA-232, (1) EIA-485, (2) programmable EIA-232 or EIA-485 - plus 10/100 Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45); up to 32 DETs multi-dropped on one serial line; 4,800-38,400 bps
  • Card reader: Integrated contactless proximity card reader option (N4 model), 125 kHz, read range up to about 2 in; Class I Div 1 / Ex d card reader interfaces separately (see bulletin SS06044)
  • Environment: -40 to 60 °C ambient, 5-95% RH non-condensing (see approvals for the rated ambient of each housing)
  • N4 enclosure: Industrial type 4X stainless steel, about 35 lb; Class I, Division 2, Groups C & D; Class I, Zone 2, Group IIB T4, Tamb -40 to +50 °C; UL File E23545
  • Explosion-proof housing: About 50 lb; Class I, Division 1, Groups C & D; Class I, Zone 1, AEx d ia IIB T6 Gb, IP65; touchscreen limits UL/cUL ambient to +55 °C; DEMKO 15 ATEX 1462X and IECEx UL 15.0016X Ex d ia IIB T6 Gb IP65, Tamb -40 to +60 °C
  • Note: The DET has no intrinsically safe field circuits; all peripheral equipment must suit the area where it is installed

How to read the model code

Example: DET-N4-DET-1 (Div 2) or ALIV-ST-XP-DET (explosion-proof). Read the code left to right; each position selects one option:

  • DET / ALIV (Series designation): As printed in the bulletin: DET for the N4 model, ALIV for the explosion-proof model
  • N4 / ST-XP (Hardware / housing): N4 = stainless steel NEMA 4 (Class I, Div 2); XP = explosion-proof (Class I, Div 1)
  • DET (Firmware): DET = Driver Entry Terminal
  • 0 / 1 (Card reader (N4 model)): 0 = none; 1 = integrated card reader

How to specify / order

Give the model code above, or send:

  • Area classification: Class I Div 2 / Zone 2 (N4 model) or Class I Div 1 / Zone 1 (explosion-proof model)
  • Integrated card reader required (N4 model) or a separate Div 1 / Ex d card reader (see SM-PCR)
  • Communications to FUEL-FACS+ (serial EIA-232/485 or Ethernet) and the number of DETs on the line
  • Required approvals (UL/cUL, ATEX, IECEx) and site ambient temperature range

Bulletin notes: the power-interruption sentence ends "will cause an orderly shut-down of the." (a word is missing); the excitation frequency is printed "125Hhz" (125 kHz); the model codes print the series designation as "DET" for the N4 model but "ALIV" for the explosion-proof model (confirm with the factory); the general ambient rating is -40 to 60 °C, but the N4 approval is limited to +50 °C and the touchscreen to +55 °C for UL/cUL; "ENTERANCE" on the drawing. The card reader is sold separately for the explosion-proof model.

Pricing and lead time are quoted per configuration. Send the model code (or the details above) with your product and operating conditions to Flow Measurement Services for a quote. Specifications summarized from Smith Meter bulletin SS06050 Rev 0.2 (11/17); confirm current data with the factory before ordering.
