The Smith Meter Model PE-P is a portable photoelectric rotary transmitter that attaches to a right-angle drive in the PD meter stack and gives a high-resolution pulse train for proving or remote totalizing. A precisely slotted disk passes through an infrared optical switch, producing a square-wave output. It is normally connected to a portable mechanical displacement prover with an electronic proving counter (for example the Smith CPC-22). Use only with 99% meter gearing and standard calibrator, with 100% gearing and dummy calibrator, or with ATG (not ATC). Not approved for hazardous locations.

- Speed / torque: 0 to 1,200 rpm (0 to 20 kHz); 5 in-oz max. running torque
- Housing: NEMA 4 design, watertight and dust-tight
- Environment: 95% relative humidity; temperature printed as -32 to 131 °F (-0 to 55 °C)
- Connector: Amphenol 4-pin female MS-3102-A-14S-2-S; mates with MS-3106-A-14S-2-P straight plug

How to specify / order
No model code in the bulletin. To order:
- PE-P transmitter (right-angle drive not included)
- Right-angle drive: P/N 550408-003 (1:1) or 550408-002 (1:2 overdrive)
- If the drive's output coupling differs from the bulletin figure, also order coupling P/N 514082-002 and groove pin 006317-002
- Confirm the meter gearing / calibrator arrangement meets the bulletin's restrictions
Bulletin notes: the temperature range is printed "-32°F to 131°F (-0°C to 55°C)"; -32 °F is about -36 °C, so the intended low limit is probably 32 °F (0 °C). The connector is described as "four-in" (four-pin).
