The Smith Meter microFlow.net Gas is a microprocessor-based, explosion-proof electronic flow computer for a single gas meter run. It continuously computes, totalizes and displays gross, gross-at-standard volume, mass and energy, and can run stand-alone or report to an automation/SCADA host over serial or Ethernet. It interfaces with any pulse-output meter and connects directly to Smith Meter MPU gas ultrasonic meters over Modbus (with pulse backup), and keeps API Chapter 21.1 style hourly and daily archives.

Key specifications

  • Calculations: AGA-5, AGA-7, AGA-8 and ISO 6976; density from 4-20 mA input or calculated per AGA-8; ten-point meter factor curve
  • Meter interface: Pulse input (any pulse meter), Modbus communications to MPU ultrasonic meters, or communications primary with pulse backup
  • Inputs: 2 dual-pulse meter inputs (5-28 VDC), 3 digital control inputs, 1 four-wire 100-ohm RTD, 1 4-20 mA input (20-bit A/D)
  • Outputs: 4 AC digital outputs, 2 DC digital outputs, 1 pulse output 0-3,000 Hz, 12 VDC auxiliary power
  • Communications: 3 EIA-232/EIA-485 ports (to 38,400 bps) plus 10/100 Ethernet; Modbus RTU and Smith protocols
  • Data: Forward and reverse totals; minimum 35 days of hourly and daily records; event log and audit trail; sampler pacing by volume or time
  • Power / environment: 115 or 230 VAC 50/60 Hz, about 9 W; -13 to 140 °F ambient; NEMA 7 / NEMA 4X, IP65
  • Approvals: UL/cUL Class I Div 1 Groups C & D; Class I Zone 1 AEx d ib IIB T6; ATEX / IECEx Ex db ib IIB T6 Gb
  • Options: OIML backed-up display (holds last data up to 15 minutes after power loss)

How to specify / order

  • Application: gas meter type (MPU ultrasonic, turbine or other pulse meter) and line size
  • Meter interface: pulse only, Modbus communications only (MPU), or communications with pulse backup
  • Calculation standard required (AGA-7 / AGA-8 / ISO 6976) and gas composition source
  • Live inputs needed: RTD temperature, 4-20 mA pressure or density transmitter
  • Display: standard or OIML backed-up display
  • Supply voltage (115 or 230 VAC) and communications/SCADA protocol (Modbus RTU, Ethernet)

The SSFG001 bulletin shows its modeling code as a chart graphic; FMS will confirm the full model number from your application details.

Pricing and lead time are quoted per configuration. Send the model code (or your application details), product, flow range, and pressure/temperature to Flow Measurement Services for a quote. Specifications summarized from Smith Meter bulletin SSFG001; confirm current data with the factory before ordering.
