The Smith Meter Model E3 is a 3-inch, steel, double-case, straight-through rotary vane positive displacement (PD) meter used for custody transfer, batching, blending, dispensing and inventory control of petroleum products, oils, solvents, chemicals and similar liquids. Smith's offset inlet and outlet nozzles keep pressure drop across the measuring chamber low, which minimizes slippage and preserves accuracy, and a high-torque calibrator adjusts registration in 0.05% steps.
Key specifications

- Options: High-viscosity and high-temperature clearances, NACE MR0175 construction, ASME Section VIII vessel on E3-S3; strainer, air eliminator, valves, counters, printers, pulse transmitters and ATC/ATG accessories
How to read the model code
Example: KE3S3GBS00. Read the code left to right; each position selects one option:
- Position 1 (Catalog code): K = catalog code
- Positions 2-3 (Model / size): E3 = 3 in
- Position 4 (Flow path): S = straight-through
- Position 5 (Pressure class, RF flanges): 3 = Class 150 (285 psi); 6 = Class 300 (740 psi); 7 = Class 600 (1,480 psi); 8 = Class 900 (2,220 psi)
- Position 6 (Meter gearing): G = gallons; B = barrels; D = dekaliters; I = imperial gallons; P = pounds (consult factory for I and P)
- Position 7 (Seals): B = Buna-N; V = FKM; T = PTFE; L = low-temperature FKM
- Position 8 (Trim): S = standard; A = all iron; L = LPG
- Position 9 (Temperature compensation): 0 = none; A = ATC (factory-set); B = ATG (field-adjustable)
- Position 10 (Special requirements): 0 = standard; P = EU PED (Ellerbek-built); C = CRN + low-temp material; L = low-temp material
