The Smith Meter Hydraulic Power Pack (HPP) is a small, compact unit that delivers steady hydraulic pressure to control valve actuators, independent of system hydraulics, and improves operating dependability in cold or warm climates. It can control up to six independent valve actuators (Smith 215 series valves) and runs on demand: the pump starts only when valve control is needed, in conjunction with an AccuLoad or other preset controller.

Key specifications

  • Power: 110/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase
  • Motor: 1 HP explosion-proof, Class I, Div. 1, Groups C and D
  • Pump: 3.0 GPM gear pump for fast response (pump viscosity range 50 to 2,000 SSU; 7 to 430 cSt)
  • Manifolds: Hydraulic supply and return manifolds for up to 6 valve actuators; 3/8" SAE supply, 1/2" SAE return
  • Reservoir: 5 gallon, with top filler/breather, drain plug and sight level
  • Pressure control: Relief (dump) valve adjustable 0-600 psig and supply pressure regulator adjustable 0-200 psig, each with liquid-filled gauge
  • Ambient temperature: -20 to 150 °F (-29 to 66 °C); hydraulic fluid chart recommends Petro Canada Hydrex Extreme or an R&O AW 46 (ISO 46) depending on ambient range
  • Dimensions: A 28" (711), B 15.2" (387), C 12" (305), D 12" (305), E 1.5" (38) per the bulletin drawing
  • Option: Oil heater, 110/240 VAC with explosion-proof junction box (Class I, Div. 1, Groups C and D)

How to specify / order

The bulletin has no model code. To quote, send:

  • Supply voltage (110 or 240 VAC) and frequency
  • Number and size of 215 / 215B valve actuators to be driven (up to six)
  • Site ambient temperature range (for fluid selection and whether the oil heater option is needed)
  • The preset controller that will call the pump (AccuLoad or other)

Bulletin notes: footnote 1 (pump viscosity range) is attached to the ambient temperature chart heading; the hydraulic-fluid chart's temperature bands are hard to read in the PDF; the Model 215 bulletin says to consult the factory on valves larger than 4" with the power pack.

Pricing and lead time are quoted per configuration. Send the model code (or the details above) with your product and operating conditions to Flow Measurement Services for a quote. Specifications summarized from Smith Meter bulletin SS03044 Rev 0.1 (3/08); confirm current data with the factory before ordering.
